Access to the Museum sites
The Leonardo Museum is located in the historic center of Vinci within a limited traffic zone (ZTL) and is normally accessible exclusively on foot. If necessary, car access to the historic center can be arranged by contacting the Vinci Tourist Office (info@museoleonardiano.it – +39 0571 933285).
The two exhibition sites of the Leonardo Museum, the Palazzina Uzielli and the Counts Guidi Castle, are both fully accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, except for the panoramic tower of the castle, whose summit can only be reached on foot.
Elevators and ramps allow access to all other rooms.
The entrance to the Counts Guidi Castle for people with mobility impairments, strollers, and pregnant women is dedicated and located on the left side of the building when facing the main entrance. Here, by showing the ticket directly via video intercom, visitors can call the elevator to enter the building.
Access to the Castle’s Panoramic Terrace
Access is allowed for a maximum of 10 people at the same time.
There are 124 steps to reach the panoramic terrace.
Minors must be accompanied.
Access to Leonardo’s Birthplace in Anchiano
Leonardo’s Birthplace and the adjacent caretaker’s house, where the ticket office is located, are partially accessible to people with mobility impairments via ramps and pathways suitable for wheelchair passage. The room hosting the audiovisual narration Leonardo in Vinci: A Genius Tells His Story is accessible only by steps.
From the ticket office, an elevator allows access to the restrooms.
The rooms inside are fully accessible.
Access for Four-Legged Friends and Guide Dogs
Guide dogs for visually impaired persons, wearing the appropriate harness and kept on a leash, are allowed entry without additional permission or prior notice of their presence.
Small pets are also allowed in the museum as long as they are carried in suitable bags or carriers.
