Booking

Individual visitors do not need to book in advance. However, reservations are strongly recommended for groups of more than 15 people and are mandatory for school groups and for those wishing to take part in a guided tour or educational activity.

Booking for visits or any educational activity is free of charge and must be requested by writing to info@museoleonardiano.it or by calling the Vinci Tourist Office at +39 0571 933285 (November–March: 10 AM–3 PM, April–October: 10 AM–6 PM).

Your booking can be modified by writing to info@museoleonardiano.it.

Tickets

Yes, you can purchase your tickets through this platform with no additional fees.
The ticket is valid for a single entry until December 31st of the current year.
If you purchase a reduced ticket, eligibility will be verified at the entrance.

The tickets are valid for 1 day.

The “Sunday at the Museum” initiative is organized by state museums. The Leonardo Museum is a civic museum and therefore does not participate in this promotion.

Teachers’ admission is free only when they accompany a school group during an educational visit. However, the “Carta del Docente” is not accepted for museum entry at this time.

Visit to the museum

It is advisable to check the Plan your visit section to get information about opening hours, ticket prices, and routes. In the Exhibits section, you can find details about all the models on display.

The average visit times are as follows:

Complete visit with cumulative ticket: 2.5 to 3 hours; visit with Leonardo Museum ticket: 1.5 to 2 hours; visit with Birthplace ticket: approximately 30-40 minutes.

March, April, and May are the months with the highest number of group visits, while in summer there is a greater presence of tourists. If you prefer to visit the museum during a less crowded period, we suggest choosing the autumn and winter months (excluding holidays).

From November through February, both the Museo Leonardiano and Leonardo’s Birthplace are closed on Tuesdays.

Yes, the Museo Leonardiano is a science museum whose main collection includes historical models inspired by Leonardo’s engineering projects. To help children aged 6 and up understand how these work, the museum offers several tools:

  • Museo Leonardiano app, featuring a dedicated itinerary for children
  • Web app with an audio guide for children (available soon)
  • museumGame, an interactive book that turns the visit into an exciting challenge with quizzes and riddles
  • Educational room, open to the public on Sunday afternoons, where children can try out some of Leonardo’s mechanical inventions

Yes, it is possible to book a guide by writing to info@museoleonardiano.it.

Photography for personal use is allowed without using flash. For other purposes (such as publications or commercial use), a special authorization must be requested, and, where applicable, a fee must be paid (see this page).

Useful informations

The streets surrounding the village, Via Rossi and Via Montalbano, have free parking spaces. Leonardo’s Birthplace is located very close to a free parking lot (Piazzale Dent). Alternatively, you can download the map to find the location of all parking areas.

Guide dogs for visually impaired persons, wearing the proper harness and kept on a leash, are allowed entry without additional permission or prior notification. Small animals are also allowed in the museum, provided they are carried in appropriate bags or carriers.

No, the museum does not have a café or space designated for eating. However, there are several bars and restaurants located very close by.

No, but educational activities with an eductor can be requested (see Educational Activities for Families).
