Sunday, 7 September: free admission to museums in Vinci for residents of Empoli

The Vinci museum system will be open free of charge to residents of the Municipality of Empoli on Sunday, 7 September 2025.
This was decided by the municipal council of Vinci during yesterday’s meeting, Tuesday, 2 September.
The measure was also designed to “lighten” the day for those who will have to leave their homes for evacuation, offering them the opportunity to visit the museums of Vinci free of charge, which are not far away but outside the red zone. However, this is an opportunity for all Empoli residents to enjoy some leisure time, not just those who will have to temporarily leave their homes, in the name of culture (remember that the evacuation concerns the construction site of the future Teatro il Ferruccio in Empoli).

Already free for residents of the municipality of Vinci, the Leonardo Museum will also be open free of charge to the residents of Empoli during the evacuation for the removal of the war device found at the Il Ferruccio theatre construction site.

Free admission without reservation will therefore be available from 9 a.m. (one hour earlier than usual) to enter the Castello dei Conti Guidi, the Palazzina Uzielli and Leonardo’s birthplace in Anchiano; at 9.30 a.m. the castle tower will open; at 10 a.m. the “Leonardo and Painting” section in Via Roma will open.

The museum sites will remain open until 7 pm.

As with residents of Vinci, citizens of Empoli will also be required to present a valid ID at the ticket office.
