Istituto Tecnico Professionale “Leonardo da Vinci” di Firenze
Firenze 1865

About the creator
In 1865, the Civica Rappresentanza, as recorded in the chronicles of the time, founded the first technical school in Florence, affiliating it with the Dante Classical Institute. Over 35 years, there were more than 8,000 enrollments and over 700 graduates. The course was then divided into 4 years.
A piece of 20th-century Florentine history passes through the “Leonardo da Vinci” school: this is evidenced by the described events, but also by the traces found on the tools and self-built machines by students and teachers during the interwar period, as well as by the plaques encountered in the IPIA area, which commemorate the sacrifices related to the struggle for freedom that also involved students of the school.
In the last 40 years, the school has become a significant center not only for the province of Florence but also for the surrounding areas, both for the training of apprentices, skilled workers, technicians, and head technicians, and for the education of managers and entrepreneurs.
