About the creator

Giovanni Canestrini (1893–1975) was an engineer who contributed to the Leonardo exhibitions held in Milan in 1939 and 1953.

He had a long career as a motorsport journalist and is best known as one of the founders of the Mille Miglia road race in 1926. Canestrini also wrote substantial articles on Leonardo da Vinci’s contributions to mechanics, particularly in the context of the development of the automobile.
