The Leonardo Museum
Palazzina UzielliFrom Piazza dei Guidi—an urban space redesigned by artist Mimmo Paladino and inspired by Leonardo’s studies in geometry—visitors can access the collection housed in the Palazzina Uzielli, which, together with the Conti Guidi’s Castle, forms the Leonardo Museum complex.

History and Exhibition Route
The Palazzina Uzielli, named after Gustavo Uzielli—one of the leading Leonardo da Vinci scholars of the late 19th century—marks the beginning of the Leonardo Museum’s exhibition route. This 19th-century building, purchased by the Municipality of Vinci, was renovated and opened to the public in 1997 as an exhibition space. Since 2006, the Palazzina has overlooked the striking Piazza dei Guidi, a work by artist Mimmo Paladino and a true monumental entrance to the museum complex.
As part of the exhibition expansion project launched in 2004, the Palazzina Uzielli was designated as the Leonardo Museum’s main entrance. Currently, following the relocation of the ticket office, it houses sections dedicated to construction site machinery, textile manufacturing machines, clocks, and anatomy. The most recent renovation in 2021 added the new sections “Leonardo’s Mechanics” and “Anatomy of Machines”, which fully exploit the evocative and communicative potential of digital technologies.
Open to the public according to the museum’s calendar, the educational room on the ground floor features several reconstructions of Leonardo’s mechanisms, offering visitors the chance to interact directly with his brilliant inventions.
